Political Opinion: From Sen. Jarvis' Desk - November 10, 2022

Dear Friends,

I hope every one had a wonderful week, we have decided to share the newsletter Thursday this week in observance of Veteran's Day tomorrow.

I want to sincerely thank all of you for reelecting me in this midterm election to serve NC Senate District 30. It is an honor to serve all of you.

Tropical storm Nicole will being making landfall in North Carolina this weekend. I want to remind everyone to take the appropriate precautions and stay safe in bad weather.

Unfortunately, due to the inclement tropical storm Nicole is supposed to bring, The City of Lexington has decided to cancel the Annual Veteran's Day Parade. I you all still find a way to honor our armed forces this weekend.

There was high levels of voter turnout for this midterm election cycle, especially when it came to early voting. Thank you to all those who made their voices heard!

After the election, the General Assembly has seen quite a few changes in the member make up. To see all new and changing seats, make sure to read our full list below.

Congratulations to those recently elected to serve Davidson County. Local Government is the root of democracy, thank you for your service.

Price increases moderated in the United States last month in the latest sign that the inflation pressures that have gripped the nation might be easing as the economy slows and consumers grow more cautious.

Lexington and Thomasville will be hosting Christmas light shows and Christmas parades in the coming weeks! I hope to see you all there to celebrate the season!

The numbers are in, and the number of people riding the train are up in North Carolina. NC By Train ridership hit a new monthly high for the second month in a row in October, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation. The number of passengers for The Carolinian and Piedmont trains hit 55,493 in October, which is up from 48,488 riders in September. I'm sure this is all due to the BBQ Festival!

Today, the US Marine Corps celebrates is 246th birthday. Thank you to all those who have served in the US Marine Corp, an establishment of freedom in our country for hundreds of years.

Tomorrow, November 11th, the state of North Carolina will be celebrating all those who have served our country in the armed forces. From the General Assembly to District, 29, thank you to all those who gave their life for our freedom, tomorrow we celebrate you and remember those gone too soon.
