The Midway prayer walk originated in a family conversation in which Evangelist Constance Transou put the vision to work. On Monday, July 26, 2021, the prayer walk began. At 7:00 p.m. we assembled at the corner of Thomas School Rd. and Disher Rd., Winston-Salem, NC, at the old ball field. Evangelist Transou organized the walk and Minister Courtney Tuttle leads the walk. The group consist of families in the community and churches in the surrounding area. As we walk the community we pray for healing and change within our community. The original plan was to walk the community for seven days, which will ended at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 1.
We are trying to raise awareness about the various cancers that have plagued our community. The Midway community has always been a community of hope and togetherness. Within the past year, we have lost so many family members and leaders to various illnesses, cancer as the main source as well as diabetes, and heart disease. Many are suffering in silence with depression and living isolated lives sinking in pain and grief. Then comes COVID and now the Delta variant, claiming the lives of many. The world and its people are changing, hearts are broken, people need healing, families are holding on the best way they can, and many have no where to turn, our community needs prayer!
Joshua chapter 6 - The Battle of Jericho: The Israelites were standing in the shadow of a huge obstacle, the walls of Jericho, a plan that didn’t make any sense. The first few days of walking was probably okay, but by the fifth or sixth day a few soldiers grew tired and was ready to quit. There always comes a time in the journey where you are tempted to quit, but Joshua and the Israelites keep marching and trusting the process! On the seventh day, with a great shout the walls came tumbling down! We believe that the walls of sickness will come down and that there will be healing in the land of God’s people.
We’re praying down the walls of sickness and diseases in our community which derived the name, “Impact Midway.” Since there has been an overwhelming response in the community to continue the “The Prayer Walk,” we will assemble again at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17 at the same location.
