Press release: ABCMouse now offered at Davidson County Public Library, free to residents

ABCMouse Home Access for Libraries, a fun, educational online program for children (ages two through eight) is now available through the Davidson County Public Library.

Developed by Age of Learning, Inc., this award-winning educational program is already in over 1,000 public libraries, 150,000+ public school classrooms, and millions of households including thousands of homeschool families. ABCMouse provides unlimited access to thousands of learning activities designed to build skills in core subjects like reading, math, science, language skills (Spanish), and social studies.

Children can play entertaining games, solve puzzles, create art and so much more. ABCMouse’s layout is easy to navigate for both children and parents. Users can chart their knowledge journey step-by-step on My Learning Path, focus on school subjects in the classroom, and take a virtual field trip to the zoo or farm.

The step-by-step Learning Path presents the full ABCmouse.com curriculum in a carefully designed program of more than 850 lessons in 10 levels. As children complete each lesson, they are guided to the next one and are motivated to continue learning by ABCmouse.com’s tickets and rewards system. The lessons of the step-by-step Learning Path consist of books, puzzles, games, songs, art activities, and/or printables that relate to a specific topic. Each lesson offers children several different ways to learn, in accordance with the recommendations of early childhood experts.

“Davidson County parents and teachers have always looked to their public library for resources to support children as they learn to read. With ABCMouse, they will find that and more! ABCMouse provides learning activities in a variety of subjects, all designed with an element of fun,” said Sheila Killebrew, Library Director.

The library is offering this service, normally $12.99 per month, free to Davidson County residents. Access requires a library card number or school lunch number. Creating an account is a simple process and starts by visiting https://www.co.davidson.nc.us/310/eBooks-Digital-Resources.

ABCMouse is available as an app on Android Tablets/Phones, Apple iPads/iPhones, Amazon Kindle, Chromebooks, and PCs.

Davidson County Public Library operates five branches located in Lexington, Thomasville, North Davidson, Denton, and West Davidson in addition to the Davidson County Historical Museum and a system-wide bookmobile.
