Press Release: Senior center programming expansion scheduled to begin in October

Davidson County, NC – In August of 2023 Davidson County Senior Services announced the expansion of senior center programming in the Denton and Southmont communities. Activities for county residents age 55 and older residing in these areas of the county would be provided Tuesdays through Thursdays weekly. The official opening day for the program is October 3 at the Denton and Southmont Civic Centers.

Activities planned for October include chair yoga, line dancing, bingo, educational programs provided by SHIIP (Seniors Health Insurance Information Program) counselors, Davidson County Sheriff’s Department and Cooperative Extension and more. Seniors can select the activities/classes in which they wish to participate and preregister by phone or email. Activity calendars will be distributed monthly to interested persons. The Denton and Southmont Senior Initiative is a grant-funded opportunity specifically for Denton and Southmont community residents.
