Public meeting scheduled for clarity on new homeless shelter and other projects

Public meeting scheduled for clarity on new homeless shelter and other projects

Some may recall a collective gathering of over 50 community partners referred to as “Community Solutions” from the year 2018.

This group met for 2 years and as a result, a new non-profit organization was formed, DC Connect, Inc. The mission of DC Connect Inc. is to serve as a gateway to community resources primarily for Davidson County residents who are experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, and or post-incarceration.

Four organizations came together to move forward to further that mission by enhancing and streamlining access to community resources; DC Connect, Davidson Medical Ministries, The Salvation Army, and Davidson County First Hope Ministries.

Over the past four years these organizations have been working diligently in making that concept a reality and are ready to share with the community those plans.

Former affiliates of the Community Solutions Group and the general public are invited to attend an event hosted by DC Connect, Davidson Medical Ministries, The Salvation Army, and Davidson County First Hope Ministries.

WHEN: Monday, April 29th at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

WHERE: Edward C. Smith Civic Center in Uptown Lexington

During this time each agency will share updates, progress, and where they are headed. Since the initial concept from 2018, much has changed and there seems to be some confusion over building projects, funding and programs.

These organizations hope to help and provide clarity and the meeting will be moderated by Joe Wallace, DC Connect Advisory Board Chair.

Following the Community Partner updates will be an opportunity for questions from those in attendance, followed by refreshments and community conversations.
