Principal Ronnie Hewitt and Liberty Drive Elementary celebrated achievements

Thomasville City Schools and state education leaders recently celebrated Ronnie Hewitt, Principal of Liberty Drive Elementary School, as the 2025 Burroughs Wellcome Fund Piedmont-Triad Region Principal of the Year. In a surprise ceremony, Hewitt was honored by students, former North Carolina Principals of the Year, School Board members, and Superintendent Dr. Quincy Williams, NCDPI, LDES
Liberty Drive Elementary School was also recognized as a Piedmont Triad Education Consortium Signature School during this event. As the recipient of this award, Hewitt will now compete for the title of 2025 North Carolina Principal of the Year. School representatives expressed their pride and congratulations to Hewitt in a Facebook post, saying, "Thank you for your excellence every day, every way, and congratulations from all of Bulldog Nation!"
Ronnie Hewitt became the principal of Liberty Drive Elementary after 17 years of experience within Thomasville City Schools. He previously served as Assistant Principal at both Thomasville Primary and Liberty Drive Elementary. Before stepping into administration, Hewitt taught Math and Social Studies and also coached at Thomasville Middle School.
In a public statement, Hewitt expressed his pride in working within the Thomasville City Schools System. "Our dedicated staff at Liberty Drive works tirelessly to provide your child with the best educational experience. We cater to all 4th and 5th-grade students within Thomasville City Schools," Hewitt stated. "Our school's achievements, including our commitment to excellence, unity through communication, understanding of equity and diversity, and instilling pride in our students as community members, reflect our dedication."
