Hospice of Davidson County announces advancements

Hospice of Davidson County announces promotions and improvements to internal structure to better serve our community with several staffing updates demonstrating continued commitment to meet increasing regulatory requirements, enhance staff services and improve the patient, family and caregiver experience. These changes better position HODC for continued success in the rapidly changing healthcare environment.

In organizational leadership, Aaron Holt, MBA, SHRM-CP, has been promoted from Director of Human Resources to Chief Administrative Officer. In his expanded role, Mr. Holt will assume additional responsibilities for daily operations, have input to strategic planning and departmental work plans and provide recommendations for integrating new technologies for performance improvement. He will continue to oversee Human Resources, non-clinical professional development and facility management.

Laura Owen, Chief Executive Officer, shares, “Aaron joined Hospice of Davidson County as the Director of HR in January, 2022. His prior affiliations include senior management in the business, nonprofit and municipal sectors. During his tenure with us, Aaron has led several key internal Initiatives for staff development, technology implementations and vendor partner negotiations. He currently serves on the Corporate Compliance, QAPI, Cultural Competence, Safety & Risk Management, Employee Recognition and IT/Digital Committees. His commitment to improving our internal capacity so that we may better serve our community is exemplary.”

With Mr. Holt’s shift in operational responsibilities, Ms. Kristen Chafin, M.A. Ed., has been promoted from HR Generalist to Human Resources Manager. In her new capacity, Ms. Chafin will absorb added responsibility for recruitment, compensation and benefits, training and all leave programs while maintaining daily HR generalist duties. Ms. Chafin joined HODC earlier this year after working in the business sector, most recently as the Chief of Staff for a holding company.

The internal realignment also included expanding the role of Director of Clinical Services. Josh Proctor, RN, will now oversee HODC’s actively growing Volunteer Services program in addition to his duties of clinical leadership and management. Laura Owen, Chief Executive Officer, notes, “This will be a seamless internal transition to streamline the management of volunteer services among care teams with a concerted commitment to meeting patient care, administrative, and community engagement needs.”

Additionally, Ms. Paige Overby, MHA, has been promoted from Quality & Compliance Specialist to Clinical Quality Assurance Analyst. Due to increasing reporting and regulatory requirements, Ms. Overby will hold responsibility for quality data reporting, analytics, and internal auditing processes. In her expanded role, she will support Agency-wide quality initiatives in a co- facilitator capacity. Ms. Overby will also continue to assist with advancements in technology implementations.

“These organizational transitions both build upon and strengthen our internal working environment, a culture that is grounded in innovation and expertise. The dedication of our staff to embrace professional development cultivates an agency centered on exceptional patient care. Internal realignments provide the opportunity to confidently adapt to our community’s changing needs. As a Hospice Honors agency and the only area provider rated 5-Stars nationally, our staff continually exceeds the standards of care with professionalism, compassion and expertise.”
