Scam Alert: LPD reports a Fake Shirt Scam

SCAM ALERT - FAKE SHIRT TEXTS

If you receive a text message attempting to sell you a Lexington Police shirt, do not click the link—it is a scam!

Multiple law enforcement agencies across North Carolina have received reports of fake texts claiming the local police department is selling shirts. The texts usually read "Dear (name), (police agency) shirt $10 OFF ready to order now" with a link.

If you receive one of these texts, do the following:

Avoid clicking the link

Block or report the sender as a scammer

Delete the message
