Veterans News: Coffee with Veterans planned at Thomasville Public Library

Triad organizations The Heroes Center and the Thomasville Public Library join forces to provide a program exclusively for veterans.

The two local organizations are joining forces to provide support for triad-area military veterans.

The Thomasville Public Library will host coffee and light refreshments for Veterans on the fourth Wednesday of each month, all while providing information about local resources available to support them.

The Heroes Center joins the Thomasville Public Library in this venture, offering expertise in the fields of resources, housing/career assistance, and support for veterans. The Heroes Center, a High Point-based nonprofit organization, has proven a cutting-edge resource for providing Veterans extensive support, becoming a Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg) Chaplain-sponsored organization working with the base’s Transition Assistance Program, and a legally approved support organization for The Wounded Warrior Battalion-East at Camp Lejeune.

“We’re incredibly excited to partner with the Heroes Center in meeting this need for our Thomasville community,” says Thomasville Public Library branch manager, Keaton Toney.

“Working with such a prolific organization to provide resources and community for local veterans is something we’re thrilled to bring to the Chair City. Even after their active-duty service, so many veterans continue to support us through our local businesses and institutions; we’re hoping that the connections and resources they find here will not only enrich their lives, but our whole community. Talking with Patrick Davis (Executive Director for The Heroes Center), you can see how his heart for Veterans has become a passion to provide the absolute best for those who have sacrificed for our Country.” According to The Heroes Center, over 775,000 veterans and 129,000 active military duty personnel call North Carolina home, with over 120,000 living here in the Piedmont Triad.
