Faith & Fellowship: The Roadmap to the Cross Part 2
We use a roadmap to guide us as we travel to key places, that we should arrive at our destination.
Therefore let us continue to use the roadmap to the cross where we may praise and celebrate our King.
One may ask, “Must Jesus bear the cross alone and all the world go free? For there’s a cross for everyone and there’s a cross for me”.
As our journey continues to the cross, we find the Pharisees and the Chief Priests holding a meeting to decide what to do with Jesus. They heard about the miracles that Jesus had been performing.
However they refused to put their trust and faith in Jesus. The Pharisees and Chief Priests refused to believe in Jesus because of their own personal greed. They really did not understand who Jesus was. The Pharisees and the Chief Priests were afraid if the people started believing in Jesus, the people would start to follow Jesus.
If that would happen the Pharisees and the Chief Priest would lose their wealth and power.
Jesus understood the roadmap to the cross was the focus of his life. The roadmap to the cross was predicted by the prophets.
The word of God teaches us, “What can we do? they asked”, this man is doing many signs. If we let him keep on doing this, everyone will believe in him then the Romans will come, they will take away our temple and our nation”. John 11:47
Our Savior is such a sovereign God.
Caiaphas was a high priest. God gave him prophecy concerning the death of Jesus. We find that Caiaphas could not fathom the truth of Jesus going to the cross.
The plot continues on the roadmap to the cross.
The leaders made their plans in secret, to kill Jesus. Mark 14:1-2
Everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of God, will be fulfilled on the roadmap to the cross. Jesus had to face many obstacles.
Jesus had to deal with many challenges and plots on the roadmap to the cross.
The book of Revelation teaches us “The Lamb of God was slain from the foundation of the world.”.
We find that Jesus is moving closer to the cross.
Jesus left Jerusalem and returned back to Bethany.
Now we find days leading up to the Passover, Jesus continued his ministry on the roadmap to the cross.
We find Jesus having a meal with friends, here is where we find Jesus being anointed In Bethany.
Mary poured expensive ointment on Jesus.
Some people complained about the expense, but Jesus said, “Why trouble ye this woman”, For she hath wrought a good work upon me.
For in that she has poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. Matthew 26:10-12
On the roadmap to the cross the events of Jesus' life can teach us about his love for us all.
The roadmap to the cross is worship in Spirit and Truth.
As we meditate on the word of God this week, let us reverence our Lord Jesus Christ, For his earthly ministry and his divine mission as we follow the roadmap to the cross.
May God So Richly Bless!
