Three-month culvert replacement starting next week in Davidson County

Press release from NCDOT

DENTON – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor plans to close a portion of a Davidson County road starting next week.

Beginning June 13, the western end of Handy Road will be closed in both directions near Cabin Creek for about 45 days to allow contract crews to replace the first of two culverts beneath the roadway.

Once this replacement is complete, the contractor will open the roadway near Cabin Creek and begin replacing the culvert at the eastern end of Handy Road near Branch Cabin Creek. Work at this site is also expected to take approximately 45 days, for a total of three months to complete work at both locations.

A signed detour will be utilized during the closure following N.C. 109, Loflin Road, Surratt Road, N.C. 8 and the South Main Street Extension. Local traffic will still be able to access locations on either side of the project site up to the points of closure.

Motorists should allow for extra time in their commute for the detour and use extra caution.
