Join us in Uptown Lexington for the Summer Strolls!

 

Lexington, NC – Uptown Lexington, Inc. will host four Summer Strolls from May through August. The four Summer Strolls, which have been held only on Friday evenings in the past, will kick off Saturday, May 22 for the Shoppin’ Streatery! Portions of West Second Avenue and East First Street will be closed to allow restaurants and merchants to bring tables and chairs out on the sidewalks or streets with no traffic passing by. Restaurants and bars near the closed side streets and on Main Street will offer service outdoors. Local band Liam and the Nerdy Blues will perform on West Second Avenue from 1-4 p.m.

 

On Friday June 11, the Art Walk and Chalk Contest will take place in the Square with food trucks, professional artists creating and selling art, and local band Trouvaille performing in the evening. The community is invited to join the chalking contest on the sidewalks. Registration opens at 3 p.m. for the chalking activities.

 

On Saturday July 17, the Uptown Block Party will feature local DJ for 102 JAMZ, DJ Diesel. A Lexington firetruck and water slide will be in the side streets to provide summer fun in the afternoon. Summer treats will be provided by Uptown merchants.

 

The Back to School Bash will be held Friday, August 20 for kids of all ages. Uptown Lexington would like to thank Lexington Utilities and the Lexington Tourism Authority and Visitor Center for their sponsorships of the 2021 Summer Strolls.

 

The Summer Strolls include the Shoppin’ Streatery from 12-8 p.m. Saturday, May 22; Art Walk and Chalk Contest from 4-9 p.m. Friday, June 11; Uptown Block Party from 12-8 p.m. Saturday, July 17; and Back to School Bash from 4-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20.

 

Uptown Lexington, Inc. exists to advance the revitalization of historic Uptown Lexington.
