TCS Board of Education discusses COVID, honors achievements

The Thomasville City Schools (TCS) Board of Education met Tuesday, September 7 for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting. One of the first items addressed was the current state of COVID-19 in the schools. As of 6:00pm on September 7, there were 13 positive cases amongst students resulting in 43 being quarantined. The total percentage of the population affected is 2.60. Four staff members have tested positive. Nine are in quarantine because of close contact. The percentage affected is 3.82. Masking will continue indoors for all students and staff.

Before the board conducted business, Thomasville High School’s (THS) 2A State Track and Field Champions as well as the TCS Teachers of the Year were recognized. Athletes recognized were Malcolm Knight, CJ Dickerson, Landon Johnson, Keyaun Dow, Jalan Sanders, Yu’Neeke Payne and Cameron Whitaker.
