The West Davidson Public Library will be hosting an Astronomy night on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 6pm to commemorate NASA's James Webb Telescope Launch into space. The West Davidson Library will showcase local experts, promote the telescope launch as well as include several hands-on space activities for the community to enjoy.
"The James Webb Telescope is more sensitive and powerful than its predecessor, the Hubble Telescope." said Holly Jones, Manager of the West Davidson Public Library. "This telescope is designed to discover new galaxies and stars previously undetected by the Hubble Telescope, as well as look back to the beginning of time."
The West Davidson Library's Astronomy program is a free event with information and activities for everyone. Observe the planets and moon outside with Gregory Brannon from GTCC's Cline Observatory. NASA Ambassador Annette Horsley will give a presentation on asteroids, comets, and meteorites. Our kid friendly hands-on space activities include a rocket launch and much more! View the pre-recorded Webb Telescope Launch scheduled on December 22, 2021.
