Ricky Lam Charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon by Rowan County Sheriff’s Office
Lexington, NC – January 28, 2025 – During the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Bunly, Lexington Police Department detectives developed probable cause that Ricky Lam was in possession of a firearm in 2023. The probable cause developed by LPD detectives led to Rowan County detectives obtaining a warrant on Lam. This piece of the investigation stems from an open Rowan County Sheriff’s Office case on larceny of a firearm. LPD detectives were able to determine that Lam possessed the firearm reported stolen. LPD detectives then collaborated with Rowan County investigators to obtain a warrant for Lam’s arrest and safely take Lam into custody today.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Ricky Lam with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and took him into custody today. Ricky Lam’s previous felony charge was from a 2003 conviction of first-degree assault in Connecticut.
This charge is not directly related to the disappearance of Nancy Bunly. Lam is being held in the Rowan County Detention office on $100,000 bond. His first appearance in court is scheduled for Wednesday, January 29.
