Wish you all more in 2024!

Happy New Year to all Davidson Locals!

The new year gives us the opportunity to strategize and plan on the future outcomes we desire to achieve in 2024.

That being the case, I wanted to share my thoughts and hope that you share yours as well (via email listed below), so that we can create a collective plan to lift up our community to new heights.

I wish to unite together!

To begin with, this year is an election year! Despite the political divisiveness, I hope that we can still have a harmonious community that respects each other’s point of view. We need to rise above the bickering and hatred that increases during elections and work to become a stronger, united, community regardless of our perspective.

We must hold into account that the party systems don’t define us, but our government. We must work to support everyone’s needs. We can't let politics fracture our humility towards one another in 2024.

I wish to grow a closer community.

One way of getting to know each other is to dine together more often and invite more people into our homes. Sadly, different ethnicities and members of differing political views often fail to socialize, which creates unnecessary surface tensions and can sometimes lead to prejudice. However, by eating together and visiting each other, we learn to understand and appreciate our unique qualities. We all come from families that we didn’t choose, but we are blessed to have the ability to create our own friendships, acquaintances, and teams that work together.

Additionally, I have Duke Fans and Thomasville Alums in my friend groups, but years ago; I would have never even considered associating with them, let alone love them like a family. We all need to become open minded people by expanding our friendships and allowing our “chosen families” (friendships) to include all kinds of people. With expanded relationships, we are safer, stronger, and more capable of deepening our understanding of challenges and issues that we would typically not understand.

After enduring another holiday season without family and friends around me again, I have become more grateful for those that are with me, and supported me in 2023. I am looking forward to growing more relationships in 2024.

I wish to help more to rise out of poverty.

Davidson Local supported the “Give Work A Chance Job Fair” in 2023 and we were able to connect hundreds of candidates with numerous job opportunities that helped find more income sources. Mark your calendars, people! On March 28, 2024, Davidson Local will be hosting another job fair and “Bull City Cider Works” from 4-7pm. We will have numerous employers that are seeking for more candidates! If you need any help finding talent, or need career advice, feel free to contact me at joelskilltv@gmail.com. I would be honored to help you!

I wish to grow our innovations and try new things in the Davidson Local area.

Last year, the community was shocked when we delivered BBQ sandwiches on drones to kick off the “Give Work A Chance Job Fair” last August! Well, this March, we are going to expand our BBQ drops and will add more innovations to the job fair, such as helping candidates achieve better financial rates on transportation, and other services that aid to increase prosperity levels.

Finally, I wish you all the best of health and happiness in 2024!

Thank you all so much for reading Davidson Local, and feel free to share your wishes that you would like to see come true in 2024 with me at Joelskilltv@gmail.com. Happy new year! Take care, everyone!
