Driver arrested after crashing U-Haul into biscuitville, causing gas leak
A serious crash occurred Wednesday morning when a U-Haul truck slammed into Biscuitville, causing a gas leak and temporarily shutting down a portion of Winston Road.
On February 26, 2025, at approximately 9:56 a.m., officers with the Lexington Police Department responded to reports of a vehicle inside the restaurant, located at 918 Winston Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a white 2024 U-Haul Chevrolet Silverado had crashed into the backside of the building. Initial reports indicated there were possibly pinned subjects inside the establishment.
During the investigation, authorities discovered a gas leak originating from the building. As a safety precaution, Winston Road was closed between 9th Avenue and 11th Avenue until the situation was contained. Emergency crews worked swiftly to manage the leak, and as of now, Winston Road has been reopened to traffic.
The driver of the U-Haul, identified as 38-year-old Najah Jinks, was arrested at the scene. Jinks faces multiple charges, including driving while impaired, driving left of center, failure to maintain lane of travel, driving with a revoked license, and injury to real property. Jinks is currently being held at the Davidson County Detention Center with no bond. A court date has been set for March 10, 2025.
