Friday Night action at Palmer Field featured a battle of the undefeated in conference play and the game matched the hype. The Knights of North Davidson on senior night took the opening kickoff and looked to start strong. The Spartan defense had other plans and forced a turnover as #15 Zyquarius Hall picked off Gavin Hill. Central took the turnover and #1 Cory Casilac finished it with a touchdown. North responded on the next possession as #11 Xavion Hayes scored the first of his two first half touchdowns. In a back and forth first half, Central looked poised to go into half with the lead, but North’s #9 Gavin Hill connected with #8 Reid Nisley with under a minute on a long bomb to send the Knights to a 24-21 halftime lead.

Second half action started with a defensive stop by the knights and a long drive capped off by a touchdown pass from North’s Hill to #14 Naylor. In the 4th quarter North seemed to channel its inner DMX and famous song “X Gon’ Give it to ya” with a heavy dose of #11 Xavion Hayes nicknamed “X”. Hayes scored a pair of 4th quarter touchdowns and #7 Ethan Snyder drug several Spartans about 10 yards for the final score putting the game out of reach and sent the Spartans home with their first loss of the season. With a dominating 52-28 win over undefeated Central, North is now 4-0 in the conference play. The Knights look for back-to-back conference titles as they play at Ledford next Friday to finish the regular season.
