Election News: Incumbent mayors remain, council seats shift with new additions

At 7:30pm on November 2, 2021, the polls for elections in Midway, Denton, Wallburg and Thomasville closed. The NC Board of Elections only reported a voter participation rate of 10.46% The results are as follows:

Town of Denton Mayor: Larry Ward (52.03%) 

Town of Denton City Council: Deanna Chandler Grubb (25.15%) and Anne Carter Bean (20.91%)

Town of Midway Council: Robin S. Moon (32.75%), Jackie Edwards (30.57%), Keith A. Leonard (30.57%)

City of Thomasville Mayor: Raleigh York Jr. (58.45%)

City of Thomasville Council: D. Hunter Thrift (10.23%), Ronald S. Bratton (9.20%), Jeanette Shepherd (9.01%), Wendy Bryant Sellars (8.41%), Dough Hunt (8.37%), Lisa Shell (8.04), Payton Williams (7.82%)

Town of Wallburg Mayor: Allen L. Todd (96.04%)

Town of Wallburg Town Council: Steve Yokeley (49.49%) and Zane Hedgecock (48.47%)

Davidson Local hosted a Facebook Live announcing live results and with call-ins from candidates. This was hosted by publisher Antionette Kerr who was accompanied by Democratic leader Tina Royal and Republican leader Jimmy Davis. The message of the night was the importance of voting and unity between parties. They emphasized the importance of voting for the person, not the party, and hope to see a lot of participation in the Lexington elections in March.
