Car crew sponsors coat drive

While car and bike clubs are traditionally recognized for their jackets, the group known as Jungle Rydaz is collecting coats to keep those sleeping outdoors warm through the holiday season.

Xclusive Q and Jungle Rydaz are hosting their first coat and blanket drive. Donations will be distributed to those who are homeless in Davidson County.

“This event is something I have been wanting to do. I brought it to my leaders and we went from there,” said NaTavea “Q” Hargrave of Xclusive Q. “For the simple fact we do community work. I want to help the community by giving back. This is the first year for the coat and blanket drive. There are people sleeping on the sides of buildings that are no longer in business, people just sleeping anywhere, to be honest. It’s getting cold and they may not have a place to sleep but at least we can try and keep them warm.”

This is one of many community endeavors for the group. “This is what we do, from our family to your family. Our community comes first, especially during these trying times,” said Heather Harris, club chief sergeant at arms. “When times get hard, Jungle Rydaz are a call away.”

Members see this as a learning opportunity. “We do all of what we do to help give back to our community. Also, we are just hoping to lead this community back to something positive. The children sometimes need a little guidance,” said KeAundra Tate, club president.

They are open to partnerships and accepting donations from the community along with any help from any organizations to make this a successful event.
