Leadership transition for Family Services of Davidson County

LEXINGTON, North Carolina – Family Services of Davidson County (FSDC) has begun their search for a new Executive Director. Tim Tilley, who has been with FSDC since its inception and led the agency as ED during the last four years, has announced his retirement at the end of 2023.

Tilley expressed his gratitude for the years of support from the Board of Directors, staff, and community. “I have been blessed to have been part of such a great organization for over 25 years,” he said.

FSDC serves those impacted by trauma through mental health counseling, advocacy, at-risk programming, and their Domestic Violence shelter, the Hattie Lee Burgess House. In 2022, FSDC treated over 2,300 individuals and families through their many mental health and crisis services. “I often hear our community partners acknowledge how well we provide our services,” said Tilley. “It’s not uncommon for stakeholders to say to me they know ‘FSDC will do it right’.”

“Tim Tilley’s departure will be deeply felt by all those who have worked with him and benefited from his expertise over these many years,” said Dr. Vincent Howell, chair of the FSDC Board. “His impact on FSDC can’t be measured, and we will miss him greatly, but we also know that he has positioned FSDC for ongoing success.”

Tilley acknowledges this being a bittersweet time for him. “I have spent most of my professional life with FSDC and making the decision to leave was very difficult,” he said. He went on to express his appreciation for the hard work of staff, especially during the last several years as they continued services during the pandemic.

The FSDC Board of Directors has started the process of securing a new ED. Visit www.fsdc.org to access the job posting or email Tim Tilley at twtilley@fsdc.org if you want to provide feedback on the search.

“FSDC is vital to the health and wellness of this community,” Tilley said. “The financial and volunteer support of this community is critical to what we do, and so that’s my parting wish – please, please consider supporting FSDC and the families we serve, so that we can make our community stronger for everyone.”
