United Way of Davidson County launched its annual campaign on August 1st with a flurry of proclamations for local government. The City of Thomasville, City of Lexington and Davidson County all issued proclamations naming August as United Way month. With the theme United We’re Strong, the organization aims to help locals understand the power of each dollar donated to the United Way of Davidson County?
This year United Way is striving to invest $1 MILLION into our community programs that help strengthen the Health, Education and Financial Stability for local families. United Way mobilizes communities around the world to close gaps and open opportunities so everyone can thrive. Through our global network spanning 37 countries and 1,100 communities, United Way connects partners, donors, volunteers, and community leaders to tackle the root causes of the world’s most complex challenges while making a positive impact in the lives of millions of people. Our impact areas are:
HEALTH
Being healthy includes physical, mental, and social well-being. United Way focuses on community need including efforts to improve maternal and child health, increase access to healthy food, boost mental health support, ensure safe drinking water, and more.
EDUCATION
Education is the key to opportunity and every child deserves the chance to receive a quality education. United Way helps more children access early childhood education, have the support they need to succeed in school, and be prepared for college and career.
ECONOMIC MOBILITY
United Way is focused on economic mobility, helping people and families to be financially secure. Across the world, we’re working in communities to ensure people have access to skill building and career opportunities that provide benefits, the opportunity for increased wages, career advancement, and more.
