63 drivers receive various charges as a result of local law enforcement traffic stop

Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff's Office T.R.A.C.E. Team along with officers from the Lexington Police Department, Thomasville Police Departments DWI Task Force, North Carolina Highway Patrol, Denton Police Department, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Davidson County 911 Center and the Forensic Test for Alcohol Branch (Breath Alcohol Testing Mobile Unit- BAT Mobile) conducted a multi-agency high visibility engagement through the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program in the area of Cotton Grove Road, Interstate 85, I-285 and Fairview Drive, Lexington.

The event was hosted by the Lexington Police Department in a continued effort to discourage unsafe driving as well as reduce the number of driving while impaired incidents.

During the event officers issued a total of 63 charges that included felony drug violations, speeding violations, driving while license revoked, no insurance and no operator’s license. Officers also arrested two individuals for driving while impaired and seized a firearm during a traffic stop.

The Departments which make up the Davidson County Traffic Safety Task Force will continue its efforts in education the motoring public on safe driving practices as well as diligently pursue its efforts to discourage incidents of impaired driving, distracted driving and unsafe driving behavior throughout Davidson County.
