19 year old woman shot at picnic table in Finch Park

The Lexington Police Department (LPD) received a 911 call at 6:07 p.m. reporting a 19 year old female had been shot while sitting at a picnic table. Reports were that no one saw a suspect at the scene.

The victim was shot in the back and was transported to Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem where she is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. She is being prepared to be released this evening.

As part of the police response, LPD shut down Finch Park while identifying everyone leaving the park. This was done while LPD simultaneously conducted an organized search of the entire park for any suspects or evidence.
