Familiar sights and sounds once again adorned the grounds of the Davidson County Fairgrounds for the annual Davidson County Agricultural Fair. After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, residents from within and outside of the county were all smiles as they were able to celebrate one of Fall’s traditions.

Those who made the trek to the fairgrounds were able greeted with an assortment of rides, foods, farm animals and vendors. There was also live music and fireworks, daily.

The fair is sponsored by the Lexington Kiwanis Club. Member Frank Cagle stated they’d had “excellent days.” He also shared a few other tidbits:

  • The best year the club had at the fair was in 1998 and he expects they will surpass that.

  • The average yearly attendance for the last 32 years has been 18,000. Cagle believes when the final numbers are tallied, they’ll exceed that number.

  • Noted the club will do very well, revenue wise, which will allow them to “put on a good camp and make some improvements.”

  • The Kiwanis Club reached their fair ads goal and would like to increase it next year.

  • This year marks 50 years that Reithoffer Shows has been the midway provider for the fair.

All proceeds go towards capital improvement of the fairgrounds. They’re also used for maintenance and operation of Kamp Kiwanis - a three week summer camp where camper attend camp for one week. Its provided free of charge to children ages 7-11 in Davidson County.
