Lexington City Council meetings to move to city centre

PRESS RELEASE

City Council Meetings to Move to City Centre in 2025 New location on State Street will support the City’s goals of providing an improved council meeting experience for elected officials, residents, and guests.

Lexington, NC. – December 16, 2024 – Starting in 2025, Lexington City Council meetings will be held at the newly renovated City Centre Building located at 200 N State St. City Council meetings have historically been held at the Vernon G. Price Jr. Council Chambers in City Hall located at 28 W Center St.

The first council meeting of 2025 is scheduled for Monday, January 13. City Centre opened on March 18 of this year following extensive renovations on the building, giving the space a modern design with technological updates, increasing the quality of service the City provides to residents. City Centre holds offices for several City departments including Customer Care, Human Resources, Lexington Utilities Administration, and the Lexington Fire Department. The first floor includes the City Centre Council Chambers for open session and a separate room dedicated to closed session.

The room provides ample natural light, a projector screen along with four monitors throughout the room to display presentations, a state-of-the-art PA system and a camera configuration that allows for online video streaming of council meetings. The City currently only live streams audio during council meetings. City Council meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. There are no council meetings in July or December in 2025 unless a special meeting is called for, in which the public will be notified of in advance. Anyone who needs an accommodation to participate in the meeting should notify

City Administration at (336) 248-3910 at least 48 hours prior to the meeting or call North Carolina Relay at 1-800-735-8262. The agenda and minutes for the meeting are posted online here. If you are a new visitor, there is an option to “Register” to the left of the search bar, which allows citizens to receive an email when an update to online agenda information is posted to the website.
