The National Weather Service, Raleigh has issued an URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE at 11:28 AM EST Sat, Jan 15 2022.
This alert included Person-Forsyth-Guilford-Alamance-Orange-Durham-Davidson-Randolph-
Chatham-Stanly-Montgomery-Moore-Lee-Anson-Richmond-Scotland-Hoke-
Including the cities of Roxboro, Winston-Salem, Greensboro,
High Point, Burlington, Graham, Mebane, Hillsborough,
Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Durham, Rougemont, Lexington, Thomasville,
Asheboro, Archdale, Siler City, Pittsboro, Albemarle, Troy,
Southern Pines, Pinehurst, Aberdeen, Carthage, Sanford,
Wadesboro, Polkton, Rockingham, Ellerbe, Laurinburg,
Camp Mackall, Wagram, and Raeford
According to the alert Winter Storm warnings remain in effect from Midnight on January 15th to Sunday Night.
* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow
accumulations of up to 3 inches and ice accumulations of two
tenths to three tenths of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 40
mph.
* WHERE...Portions of central North Carolina.
* WHEN...From midnight tonight to midnight EST Sunday night.
* IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the
ice. The strong, gusty winds in addition to ice will result in
numerous to widespread power outages. Travel could be nearly
impossible.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
