Baker named LACC Outstanding Woman in the Community

At the 76th Annual Meeting of the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce, with Joe Wallace presiding, a large crowd of businesses, local government officials, state and national officials and citizens were treated to a social and delicious dinner at the J. Smith Young YMCA.

Steve Escobar, Controller of NUCOR, Lexington, was the key note speaker. He shared his history and the story of NUCOR and what this steel industry will mean for Lexington and Davidson County. 

Christa Weeks, 2022 Board Chair, gave the 2022 State of the Chamber, a review of activities and recognized the outgoing directors. Afterwards, she passed the gavel to the 2023 Board Chair, Julie Harshaw, who made remarks.

Retired Attorney, Phyllis Penry, introduced the Outstanding Woman in the Community, Judge Rosalind Baker, who received a standing ovation.

Burr Sullivan then introduced the Distinguished Citizen of the Year, Bill James who was overjoyed as members of his family surprised him with their presence.
