Beth Bunce and Bill Bates to be honored at United Way of Davidson County's 2024 Benefactors Celebration
The United Way of Davidson County is excited to announce its 2024 Benefactors Celebration, taking place on Saturday, September 28th, at the RCR Events Center in Welcome. This special evening will honor Bill Bates and Beth Bunce for their remarkable contributions to the community and celebrate the generosity of all leadership donors.
Bill Bates and Beth Bunce have been unwavering supporters of the UnitedWay of Davidson County, dedicating their time, resources and energy to advance our mission of improving lives and strengthening the community. Their philanthropic efforts and advocacy have significantly impacted our initiatives and programs, benefiting numerous individuals and families in Davidson County.
The Benefactors Celebration will feature a delightful dinner, live music, an auction, dancing and an opportunity for fellowship. The event will serve as a tribute to Bill and Beth.

Beth Bunce has been deeply involved with the community through various roles, including serving as a mentor and board member for Project Potential, and on the boards of Pastor’s Pantry and the Davidson Davie Community College Foundation. She has also been an Advocate for Davidson County Family Services and participated in efforts to raise awareness of and additional funds for the Hattie Lee Burgess Safe House. Beth was recently named the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce 2024 Woman of the Year. Kristie Hege, President of the United Way of Davidson County, shared, “Having known Beth and Bill for the past two decades, I can attest to their genuine desire to help others. The United Way and our Board of Directors are thrilled to honor such a humble and generous couple.”In their own words, Bill and Beth shared, “We are proud to be part of an organization whosemission and vision align with our own values. Our goal is to work together with UWDC to helpcreate a community where everyone has the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.”
The D. L. Bunce family has been a cornerstone of community service since their arrival in Lexington. From organizing the Lexington Crop Walk and supporting community gardens through Agricare for world hunger to founding Bunce Buildings and Investments, their contributions have made a lasting impact.
The United Way Benefactor’s Club consists of individuals who contribute at least$1,000 to the Annual United Way Campaign. Currently, the United Way of Davidson County is conducting a $1.4 million annual campaign to fund local human service programs.
