Big Toy Day takes flight
NEWS RELEASE
Communities in Schools of Lexington/Davidson County (CIS) will host the 12th Annual Big Toy Day on Saturday, August 27, 2022. The family friendly, outdoor event will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Davidson County Airport, free for children ages 10 and under and $5 for all others.
Since 2010, our Event Sponsor, May Heavy Equipment along with so many other local companies and agencies have made Big Toy Day successful to include unique vehicles, heavy construction equipment, military and emergency equipment, boats, race cars and antique trucks to create excitement for the children.
The fly in event hosted by Fly High of Lexington will again coincide with Big Toy Day giving attendees the chance to see multiple take-off and landings by small passenger aircraft. Chapter 1083 of the EAA will offer FREE flights through the Young Eagles program. Children ages 8 to 17 will have the opportunity to take a short flight over Davidson County with a certified pilot. Parents can pre-register their child for flights at www.yeday.org.
New this year, children attractions will include a mobile arcade bus, entertainment from the Mad Science of NC offering a Slime Booth. The large inflatables, face-painting, and other fun events provided by several non-profit agencies. Food provided by Journey Church include hot dogs, chips, drinks and snow cones will be available for purchase.
Raffle tickets are available for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Great Wolf Lodge, and a cash giveaway of $500. Winners will be announced the day of event, but do not need to be present to claim their prize.
Many local sponsors provide support to help raise the funding for Big Toy Day, and all proceeds from the fundraiser are used to enhance the lives of thousands of students in the Lexington City, and Davidson County schools with vital assistance to help eliminate the barriers to succeed in school.
