Alerts: Severe weather alerts add closings
A Cold Weather Advisory is currently in effect due to wind chill temperatures ranging from 5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Initial temperatures are in the lower 20s and are expected to remain very cold throughout the day.
A severe winter storm watch has been issued for the Piedmont Triad and much of central North Carolina from 1 p.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday.
Cloud cover is expected to increase rapidly on Friday morning, with snow anticipated to begin by the afternoon. High temperatures are projected to be near 34 degrees, likely decreasing as snowfall commences. The snow is expected to persist into the evening, ultimately transitioning to a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, which will gradually taper off early on Saturday morning.
Due to inclement weather expected on Friday, several school systems in Davidson County have reported closing or having a remote learning day. Check community websites and event social media for additional closings, delays and cancelations.
