Davidson County’s Public Library January events
Every year as the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve, we all welcome the upcoming year and anticipate the possible challenges, accomplishments, and overall potential that it holds. Every year, we strive to better ourselves; to get that promotion, to make that new friend, or to make that lifestyle change. We all want to start strong in order to pursue a wonderful year full of achievements and strides towards self-improvement. If your resolution in 2024 is to get in touch with your creative side, to better connect with your community, or to simply have fun; the Davidson County Public Library (DCPL) has an upcoming event that’s perfectly suited for you!
This year, throughout January, the DCPL will be holding weekly gatherings on Thursday evenings at 6 pm for various fun arts and crafts activities. Materials will be provided, so just be sure to bring yourself and your creativity! The arts and crafts activities planned have a nice meaning and purpose behind them.
On January 4th, the DCPL will allow you to create your own lemon pig! A cute little sculpture of a pig made out of a lemon, designed and customized to your heart’s content! Following, on January 11th, you can create a vision board of your own design! The vision board could consist of many different concepts and inspirations. For example, the vision board could be your tentative plan for new decor in your house, it could be a motivating set of images that could help you focus on your goals throughout the year, or it could simply be a fun art project in which you can explore your inner artist! Finally, on January 18th, there will be crafts to make disc planners. Planners can be extremely useful, they can help you visually display what needs to be done in your day; things such as chores, homework, or errands.
The DCPL wants to help start your year off right by holding these craft nights, offering a simple activity and a creative outlet to the community. These activities all serve different purposes; the lemon pig’s purpose is to bring good luck, the vision board helps visualize your dreams, and the planners help to organize tasks and events in advance. The DCPL is hoping to uplift the community and build an environment in which people can feel free to express themselves!
