Faith and Fellowship: The Power of Forgiveness
What does Jesus say about forgiveness, Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times but seventy-seven times” you Lord are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your father in Heaven may forgive your sins.
Sometimes we may find forgiving someone who has hurt us, impossible. But God commands us to forgive others. God has forgiven us our sins! It is our duty as Christians to love one another. Unforgiveness, spiritually and physically can be unhealthy. Unforgiveness often times bring bitterness in your soul, mind and body, Our God is a forgiving God. We should spend time with God. Our God with his all knowing power will restore you.
Are you struggling to forgive someone, that may have hurt you; or are you struggling to forgive yourself? There is good news, the good news is that forgiveness is possible. The word of God is full of Bible verses to help us to understand how completely, God forgives those who confess and believe in his son Jesus.
The word of God teaches us in 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
As believers sometimes you can do the work of forgiving from afar. We should always remember that forgiveness will always involve healthy boundaries. We should always try our best to understand, God’s hope and help for forgiveness. Learn to forgive yourself, forgiving yourself means admitting your own sinfulness, It requires admitting that we are imperfect and unable to become perfect on our own. When we humble ourselves and receive God’s Grace, we can let go of our angst against ourselves, for our wrongdoing.
As believers we know that the Creator of the universe, loves us so much, that he not only made us, but God gave us his only son. Jesus, as he hung on the cross for the sins of the world, Luke 23: 34 , Then Jesus said, " Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing”. The Power of forgiveness, hung, bled and died for us!
As we meditate on the word of God this week, let us remember God’s forgiveness is that it is not merely transactional it is relational. Because he Loves Us, and he If we repent he will forgive us.
May God so richly bless!!!
