Snider sped up, eventually reaching Viola. “Really?” he tried to confirm before looking on the desk. “Yeah, you’re right.”

Viola let out a hollow laugh. “I know! Let’s go find Harley.”

The two made their way to Harley’s desk, where she was sitting talking on her phone.

“Hey,” Viola said with a sigh.

Harley looked up and smiled. “Hey, girl, what’s up?”

Snider rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. “We need to talk.”

She looked up at him, furrowing her eyebrows. “Okay. Is everything alright?” she questioned as she looked back at her friend.

Viola sighed. “I don’t know, is it?”

Snider shifted to lean on the desk. “Maybe you two should go talk about this in private.”

Viola nodded and pursed her lips. “Yeah.”

The two left Snider and made their way to the break room.

“So, what’s going on?”

Viola took in a breath and started, “Well, as you know, papers have been going missing, and every time it always seems to circle back to you. Which you know is, well, suspicious.” She looked down at her hands.

“You’re saying I stole them?” Harley questioned as she raised an eyebrow.

“I mean, I don’t know anymore, Harley.”

“Well, I don’t know about the other ones, but I moved the ones on your desk today to Snider’s office because he asked me to.”

Viola looked confused and then redirected her attention to Harley. “He told you to?”

“Yeah, right before you guys left, he sent me a text.” She pulled out her phone and passed it to Viola.

“Wait, so, what about the first time?”

Harley shrugged and hummed. “Good question. I have no idea.”

Viola sighed. “Missing papers, missing people, this is just too much.”

Harley opened her mouth, then thought for a moment. “Why didn’t Snider come in?”

“I guess he thought we needed some time alone, so we could figure this all out.” She shrugged.

“I think it’d be better if we all talked about it together. Wait here.” Harley’s chair scratched across the floor as she got up and made her way to the door. Minutes later, she returned alone, confusion shrouding her face. “Snider left! His car isn’t outside.”
