Celebrate Nation Minority Health Month
As the FDA Office of Minority Health and Health Equity (OMHHE) kicks off National Minority Health Month (NMHM), we invite you to join our ongoing efforts this month to advance health equity and reduce health disparities among racial and ethnic minority and other diverse populations. This year’s theme, Be the Source for Better Health: Improving Health Outcomes Through Our Cultures, Communities, and Connections, highlights the vital role of diverse communities, organizations, and individuals in achieving the OMHHE mission.
As part of this year’s NMHM celebration, OMHHE also invites you to join us at 11:00 AM ET on April 17th for Strategies to Increase Clinical Trial Participation for Diverse Communities, A Panel Discussion with the OMHHE REACH Consortium. The event will feature a keynote address from Principal Deputy Commissioner of FDA, Dr. Namandjé N. Bumpus. During this virtual discussion, members of the consortium, representing organizations and researchers working in diverse communities throughout the nation, will discuss their ongoing efforts with REACH to improve clinical trial participation among racial and ethnic minority, rural, and urban communities.
Register for the REACH Panel Discussion here.
OMHHE established the Racial and Ethnic Minority Acceleration Consortium for Health Equity (REACH) in 2023. REACH is a research consortium of diverse organizations and institutions that aims to timely and efficiently help respond to health equity needs.
OMHHE also encourages you to visit the new OMHHE Enhance Equity Research Hub, a data repository that provides information about OMHHE-funded research projects. These projects are a vital part of achieving the OMHHE mission to promote and protect the health of diverse populations through research and communication of science that addresses health disparities.
