Charles McNeair advocates address city's resolution, continues fight for clemency

Wanda Cox issued a statement to Davidson Local on behalf of the Advocates for Charles McNeair after the Lexington City Council voted unanimously during closed session Monday evening to issue a resolution of support for the release of Charles McNeair.

“Advocates for Charles McNeair have long believed that our community is capable of doing the right thing. We appreciate this show of unity for Charles McNeair from Lexington leadership. Charles McNeair deserves freedom and we sincerely hope Governor Cooper grants the Resolution request for clemency soon. 43 years has been a long time.”

The case has been garnering a host of media attention including a recent article in The Assembly by former Winston-Salem Journal Crime Reporter Michael Hewlett.

Lexington council passed a resolution asking for Charles McNeair to be released from prison.
