Some local all-time favorite burger joints are set to take part in the Burger Week. Participating Restaurants and Chefs are creating seriously delicious burgers that will only be available for one week to celebrate “Eat. Drink. Burger Week.” 20+ participating restaurants across the Triad will craft a unique and delicious $10 “specialty burger” that will be available for one week only. It has been made sure that no two burgers will be alike! Chefs have carefully crafted their take of the perfect meaty masterpiece, and they need you to eat, drink and VOTE online for your favorite burger! The master chef that makes the most local taste buds dance, will be named victorious, receive a trophy commemorating their iconic, champion burger, but most importantly, bragging rights. The week is part of regional efforts to celebrate culinary creativity, increase visibility and engagement with the food & beverage community. Davidson Local will be on location to cover some of the best burgers in town.
Participating restaurants in Lexington and their epic specialty, “off menu” burgers include:
Rustic Roots on Main: Caprese Burger
Sophie’s Cork & Ale: Shrimp and Grits Burger
Lou Lou’s Seafood: Sloppy Crab Mac ‘n’ Cheese Burger
Medley food truck featuring Red Donut Shop: Medley Burger
Owner and Chef of Sophie’s Cork & Ale, John Wilson shares, “Burger week has blown up! I remember being one of the first to sign up not knowing how many restaurants would eventually be featured. That excites me and we are ready for the challenge, hoping people from all over the triad will visit Lexington to try our shrimp and grits burger. It's a certified Angus beef patty between two cheesy fried yellow grit cakes topped with shrimp in tasso ham gravy.”
Davidson Local, the official media sponsor for Davidson County has teamed up for an exciting week with an idea {crafted} by friends at the Triad Food and Beverage Coalition, Winston-Salem Journal and Greensboro News & Record to support Eat. Drink. Burger Week! Algenon Cash is founder of the Triad Food and Beverage Coalition and the brains behind Burger Week. “Burgers are universal,” Cash said. “Plus it’s a good way to end the summer." His idea was to create a culinary chapter to support restaurants in the region. “I surveyed a lot of elected officials and restaurant owners.” He said the need for collaboration came from a regional impact study that turned into a White Paper. The coalition toyed with several ideas to build awareness and support for Triad restaurants. Cash said the Eat Drink Triad program is an extension of the Triad Food and Beverage Coalition efforts to educate and.build awareness. Other efforts include podcasts and social media promotions. “We’re building awareness to drive people into these restaurants.”
