Join National Night Out in Thomasville tonight

This year marks the 40th birthday of National Night Out with area law-enforcement and the local community gathering to commemorate the event with National Night Out in Thomasville.

National Night Out was founded in August of 1984 by Matt Perskin to enhance the relationship between law enforcement and citizens across the United States. This is the perfect evening to meet and engage your local law enforcement and to see what a great resource that they are.

This year over 38 million neighborhoods will participate nationwide in National Night Out which is fulfilling its goal of fostering positive engagement across countless communities.  Celebrations for National Night Out include food, music, games and free gifts. In addition there is always lots of friendly dialogue and fun moments shared by all. National Night Out is recognized on the first Tuesday in August by some and on the first Tuesday In October by others.  

In Thomasville, National Night Out is being hosted by the Thomasville Police Department at 205 W. Main Street on Tuesday, this evening. The event will feature live music provided by a DJ, lots of resources, great giveaways and much more.

The Lexington Police Department is proudly hosting it’s 40th year of participating in National Night Out and they are doing it in a unique way at numerous parks in Lexington on Tuesday, October 1st. The locations will be :

  • Washington Park - 100 Bookington Drive

  • Grimes Park - 25 Hege Drive

  • Skate Park - 301 W. 9th Avenue

  • Fourth Street Park- 412 E. 4th Street.
