Davidson County Sherriff's traffic stops led to 93 charges

On July 29, 2023, Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff's Office Traffic and Criminal Enforcement Unit, assigned to the Special Investigations Division, along with the Davidson County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit, Thomasville Police Department, Lexington Police Department, Denton Police Department, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the Davidson County "MADD" Chapter (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) in partnership with the North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program conducted a multi-agency high visibility engagement in the area of Gumtree Road and Hwy 109 North, Winston Salem.

As a collaborative effort between all of the agencies, officers issued 93 charges to include child restraint violations, seat belt violations, driving while license revoked, no insurance, registration violations, equipment violations, speeding, misdemeanor drug violations, no operator's license and arrest were made for driving while impaired. Officers also seized methamphetamine and fentanyl during the event and made arrest on subjects with outstanding warrants.
