DDCC opens aquarium and zoo for Earth Day

On Friday, April 19, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. the Davidson-Davie Community College Zoo & Aquarium Science Program will hold their Annual Open Aquarium Event.

Visit the college and be fascinated by their animal collection.

This local event is free and will be one to remember with past attendance reaching over 1000.

The Annual Open Aquarium Event is a chance for all students and animal lovers to be captivated by nature.

This year the DDCC Zoo & Aquarium Science Program is coordinating with the Biology Department and the North Carolina Science Festival to provide lots of hands-on activities.

DDCC has added new animals which include jellyfish, rainbow trout and a blue tongued skink. There will also be other favorites like birds, sharks, axolotls and turtles for attendees to say hello to.

Celebrate with this year's Earth Day theme, "Planet vs Plastic." Earth Day is an annual event held on April 22 around the globe to show support for the environment and to aid in environmental protection. Earth Day was first held on April 22, 1970.
