The Lexington (NC) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated continues with their 2021-22 year of community service. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is a private not for profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs and local communities throughout the world. The sorority currently has 1, 000 collegiate and alumnae chapters located in the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Jamaica and the Republic of Korea.
Our local chapter celebrates over 36 years of community service and sisterhood in the Lexington, Davidson County and Thomasville areas. We continue to promote programs focusing on physical and mental health, education development, economic development, international awareness, and political awareness and involvement.
Our glorious sisterhood is dedicated to service, leadership, and empowerment in order to make our communities stronger and viable by improving the lives of our citizens. We sponsor a Creative Writing and Arts Contest; award scholarships; support Pastors’ Pantry and Relay for Life; donate to national and international crises; conduct educational programs in the Lexington City School System; and sponsor the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast. This list includes a few projects and programs.
