Individuate: The Path to Well-Being and Wholeness

Renowned business consultants Roger Pearman and Marilyn Taylor are eager to share valuable insights and expertise in their latest book, "Individuate: The Path to Well-Being and Wholeness."

The duo invites those who are inspired to a book talk with the authors on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Undercroft of Grace Episcopal Church, located at the corner of 5th Avenue and Main Street, Lexington, NC.

In this thought-provoking title, the Triad-based coaches offer readers a journey toward understanding themselves more deeply and achieving a sense of balance and fulfillment in their lives. Drawing on years of experience, Pearman and Taylor provide practical wisdom and guidance, helping individuals navigate the complexities of personal and professional growth.

The foundation of their offering lies in the intricate notion of individuation, also known as principium individuation. This concept is not limited to the perspective of a single author or thought leader; rather, it represents a fundamental principle that has been explored by a diverse array of thinkers throughout history.

Individuation refers to the process by which an entity is acknowledged as distinct and separate from other entities, highlighting the unique characteristics that define it. This idea resonates across various disciplines, from psychology to philosophy, illustrating its broad significance and encouraging deeper exploration of what it means to be an individual in a complex world.

Taylor says, "It seems this word first appeared in the 1600s and its origin is Latin... "It’s clear this word is about growth, change, and learning who you are uniquely. We also stress the potential connection between all humans, whose individual growth can also serve mankind."

The initial question is as complicated as the internal work itself. "Are you aware of, aligned with, and nurturing your true Self? How you answer this question could impact the fate of humankind. As remarkable as this assertion seems, our interdependent lives show “we” are in the web of life, each affecting all other parts of the web. It is not sufficient to know what is true for you. If we are going to live in meaningful ways, we must consider the nature of our journey as connected to others," Pearman and Taylor.

This recurring theme weaves its way throughout the entirety of the book. It serves as a guiding thread, prompting readers to engage with the core ideas being presented.

Taylor is a Lexington-based married to Charles W Taylor, CPA, also known as Chuck Taylor. Local businesses, including those in partnership the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce and Thomasville Chamber of Commerce, will recognize many of the concepts, although this is Taylor’s first book. She writes of influences by “Choice Points,” S. Rice; “Thinking, Fast and Slow,” D. Kahneman; “I’m Not Crazy I’m Just Not You,” R. Pearman; “Memories, Dreams, Reflections,” C. Jung.

Early readers and past consulting clients have called the book "life-changing.” The book is designed primarily for "Individuals who wish to have a credible resource to use on their personal/professional growth journey and secondly,  Coaches, Trainers, Therapists interested in additional tools or methodologies to use in their respective practices," Taylor offered.

Books are available for the asking." It is our gift to encourage their learners (coaches, workshop participants) to move toward embracing their talents and owning their voices as they navigate life," Pearman and Taylor.  "We intend for this to be an initial primer on a range of approaches to prompt insight and action.  Each tactic and suggestion can be further developed as the user may need.  Our goal is to nudge you to consider additional methods for growth and development."
