Every cookie has a mission, to help girls do great things.

Every cookie has a mission, to help girls do great things.

Every year, for just a few months Girl Scouts sell cookies to support the adventures they want to achieve. When someone purchases a box of Girl Scout Cookies, they are investing in future female entrepreneurs, and helping them to learn many skills. Skills that will help them to be ready and prepared for their future. Girl Scouts learn about decision making, money management, goal setting, people skills, and business ideas. After paying the bakers, the net proceeds from Girl Scout Cookie sales are retained by the girl scout troop to assist in impactful girl-led community projects and other experiences. Girl Scout troops set goals to use their proceeds.

Just this past weekend Girl Scouts 2160 exceeded their cookie sales goal of 2700 boxes, which means they will get some bonus cash from Girl Scouts later in Spring. Girl Scout Troop 2160 based in Lexington, NC is led by Kivi Leroux Miller and Beth McSparin. You can also see the girls working throughout the year at the Farmers Market in the Depot area in Uptown Lexington, NC. The girls work very hard work with Grow and Go Girls which is a small business, that the girls all actively work in to raise funds.

Girl Scouts 2160 has worked really hard this past year and their hard work will be paying off, they will be going on a trip to Belize in June. Their trip to Belize has already been paid in full, thanks to all of their very hard work with the Grow and Go Girls and previous cookie sales. The exciting part is that all of the money they earned through this year's cookie sale will be applied to (1) their Gold Award projects and (2) some well-earned fun to be decided soon!

Miller posted a heartfelt thanks on Facebook, “Thank you to everyone for supporting our local Girl Scouts 2160, purchasing cookies. Also stop by and check them out at the Farmers Market and purchase some of their delicious breads, cakes, muffins, brownies, and cookies and more.”

The next date for the Davidson County Farmers Market, located at 599 S. Railroad Street Lexington, NC is Saturday March 12, 2022, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
