March is Women’s History Month and we are celebrating at the Lexington Public Library with a variety of events and activities!
Stop in to see our circulation bulletin board, which will feature the profiles of several current women entrepreneurs in Davidson County. In addition, to highlight Davidson County’s Bicentennial, we will have information on three historical women in the county, whose profiles were compiled with research from our genealogy department. In addition, we will have educational posters on important women in U.S. history and artifacts on display from the Davidson County Historical Museum. Check out our book displays for great fiction and non-fiction reads all about women both past and present. Coloring pages, activity sheets, and bookmarks will be available and free to the public.
All month we will be hosting a scavenger hunt. Enjoy locating important books by and about women throughout our shelves! Find each title and win a small prize!
Test your knowledge of history and current events relating to U.S. women by answering one of our trivia questions. There will be five different questions during the month. Answer as many correctly as you can for a chance to win a grand prize! The winner will be announced on our Facebook page!
We will also be hosting several fun and informative events. Visit the library on either March 9, from 11A-12P or March 24 from 6P-7P to attend a visual presentation and discussion titled, “Finding More Hidden Figures.” Presented by Dr. Brenna Buchanan, spend the hour learning more about several significant women in American History. Registration is recommended.
Lastly, we are partnering with Martha Larson of the Small Business Center at DDCC, March 28 from 5:30P-7:30P at Bull City Ciderworks for a book talk on Barbara Stanny’s, Secrets of Six Figure Women: Surprising Strategies to Up Your Earnings and Change Your Life. Come meet and network with other successful women like yourself! Registration is recommended.
