Faith and Fellowship: Jesus is Our Friend
A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly! And there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother -Proverbs 18:24.
In the world today, we have lived through good times as well as bad times. Sometimes we may find life in turmoil as we look with our naked eye. In times like these we all need our friends. There may be times when we call our friends and find that they may not be there when we need them the most. We can be assured of our trustworthy friend, Jesus. Our friend will always be there in our times of need. We, as believers, should always live our lives with a great sense of privilege knowing that, “ Greater Love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” - John 5:13
Jesus is and always will be our King. Yes, it is true that our King has invited us to be his friend. He wants us to think of ourselves as friends, He said “No longer do I call you servants, but I have called you friends,” -John 15:15 We should know and understand that a servant only comes when there is something to do, but a friend is welcome anytime. A servant is told what to do. A friend is told why. A servant will bring food to the table but a friend will eat it with you. Jesus is our friend. He only wants us to view ourselves as his dear friend. Jesus wants us near his heart. Friendship thrives with communication and conversation. The word of God is a great gift! The Bible is the way we can relate to Jesus as a friend.
Throughout the day as we spend time in scripture and as we speak with God, we relate to him as our friend. It has been said that Jesus is our friend, until the end. Only on him I will depend, when we are sad and feeling low, we should turn it over to Jesus, He will never say no! Jesus is our friend.
As we read the word of God, we will find that Jesus enacts friendship throughout the scriptures. Jesus is the best friend you could ever have. There is no friend that you can have that will be closer, more caring, more truthful, more patient, more faithful than our friend Jesus.
I am constantly in awe by the mere fact that Jesus is not a friend who is distant and far removed from us,
Jesus cares for us. Jesus is an intimate friend and always has our best interest in his heart. Jesus is the best friend anyone could ever have.
The songwriter penned it by stating: What a friend we have in Jesus, all our griefs to bear. And what a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer, can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrow share? Jesus knows our every weakness, take to the Lord in prayer . What a friend we have in Jesus!
As we meditate on the word of God this week, let us reflect on Matthew 28:20, “ I am with you always even to the end of the age”. Amen
Thank you Jesus for being our friend!
May God so richly bless!
