Faith and Fellowship: The Living Water
Water is essential for our physical wellbeing. Without this critical element, life couldn’t exist. When the sun beats us down, we long for the cool relief water provides, this water replenishes our bodies with this life giving liquid. So the question becomes, where do you find living water?
John 4:10; 13-14 says “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me Drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.’ Everyone that drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drink of the water I give him shall never thirst again; but the water I give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life”. As believers we know Jesus as the source of living water in our lives. He has the power to heal us. He has the power to deliver us. And he has the power to set us free.
Jesus the living water is like a natural spring, an unending flow of the living water flowing up.
Psalm 42: 1 teaches us; As the deer pants for the water brook, so pants my soul for you, Oh God. My soul thirst for God, for the living God. The deep spiritual thirst inside of us can only be quenched by knowing him. He offers us the gift of living water which is eternal life.
Jesus the living water will not offer us a little drip every now and then but the living water has an unlimited amount of living water that springs up directly from the source flowing through us, and ready to give a drink to the thirsty parts of our soul whenever we need it.
If in times we find our lives becoming barren and we begin to thirst for the Joy of our salvation reflect on John 7:37-38 “ If anyone thirst, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the scriptures had said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” As much as our bodies need water to survive,
our spiritual selves need water everyday to flourish, too. Without this critical element we will become lost, we do not have to thirst spiritually. Our belief in the Son of the living God creates rivers of living water that flows out of our hearts.
Always remember Jesus is always ready to give us living water this will renew our minds, hearts and soul. Remember the words of Jesus he calls out “ Come to me and drink”.
As we meditate on the word of God this week let us rejoice in knowing if Jesus can save the woman at the well and tells her if you know the gift of God and who it is that ask you for a drink, he would have given you living water. And she would never thirst again.
Dear God, How sweet the living water from the hills of God. Oh sinner, won’t you come today to Calvary. A fountain there is flowing deep and wide. The Saviour now invites you to the water free. Where thirsting spirits can be satisfied.
May God so richly bless!
