First Baptist Church on Village Drive to host community health event

First Baptist Church Health Guild has been sponsoring annual Family Health Day designed to satisfy a need to address the physical body in the church. “At First Baptist we aim to feed the whole person-mind, body and spirit,” according to a statement from the Guild. “The creation of the Health Guild provides the church family and community the tools to keep our bodies and minds healthy. We provide workshops on health issues.”
The event will take place from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church 210 Village Drive in Lexington. The fair is free to the public.
The health fair will include speeches given by medical professionals during the 11:00 am with a church service followed by dinner and health fair activities in the church fellowship hall starting approximately at 1:00 pm.
The Guild will provide workshops addressing health issues including monthly blood pressure screenings and input on Covid-19 protocols.

What to expect? According to chairperson Beverly Roberts, “A delicious meal and screenings such as HIV, sickle cell, hepatitis, syphilis, blood pressure and glucose A1C. Flu and Covid-19 vaccinations will also be available Vendors with health and community related information and products will be in attendance.
Roberts says the vendors list is growing daily.
