First Reformed UCC hosting All Hallows Eve service
Halloween, or All Hallows Eve, is the eve before the Christian holy day, All Hallows or All Saints Day on November 1. As the days shorten and the nights grow longer, many generations have thought of this time as a kind of "thin place," where the distance between the earthly and the spiritual world is not so great, a time it's easier for the living and the dead to gather together in some mysterious way.
With the veil between the worlds strangely thin, First Reformed UCC will hold our first All Hallows' Eve worship service in the sanctuary on Saturday, October 30 at 5p.m.
Chris Kiser, church organist will play plenty of spooky Halloween music from the majestic pipe organ. We will hear the mystifying lessons from 1 Samuel 28, the Witch of Endor and Ezekiel 37, The Valley of the Dry Bones.
After the service, we will join in the festivities of the Uptown Boo Bash.
All are welcome to join us. Children and Adults are encouraged to dress in costume. We follow COVID protocols of masking inside the sanctuary. Please contact Rev. Elizabeth Horton if you have questions.
Come visit us on All Hallows Eve. You just might hear the rattling of bones...
