From Sen. Jarvis' Desk: October 22, 2021
Dear Friends,
The budget continues to go through negotiations with Senate, President Berger, Speaker Moore, and Governor Cooper.
Unfortunately, Governor Roy Cooper has yet to agree to our spending plan, even though the budget received bipartisan support in both the House and Senate. We are now in the final stages of negotiations in hopes that we can reach an agreement and avoid a gubernatorial veto.
The North Carolina House passed one of my bills, Senate Bill 329: Building Code Modifications, which will reduce the number of small scale construction projects that need architectural approval.
The re-districting process is continuing to be finalized as we approach filing deadlines with the NC Board of Elections. There will be several hearings for the public to give input on the maps that have started to be released.
I also had the opportunity to attend the North Carolina State Fair this week. I would like to thank Agricultural Commissioner Steve Troxler and our great Agriculture Department for putting on such a great fair this year! Nothing Could Be Finer!
If you would like to see Lt. Governor Mark Robinson, he will be the guest speaker next week at Heath Church in Lexington, NC. Lt. Governor Mark Robinson will also be speaking at the Halifax Mall in Raleigh, NC on October 29th at 10:30 AM. We hope to see you there.
As always, thank you to our numerous constituents who continue to write, call, or email our office. I will never stop fighting for you.
Senator Steve Jarvis,
NC District 29
