March 8, 2025 – Lexington, NC – At approximately 6:20am on Saturday, March 8, the Lexington Fire Department responded to a house on fire at 1009 White St. – a single-story residential home that was occupied by three adults and one child.

The occupants had been awakened by a passerby that saw the fire and stopped to help. They woke the occupants by loudly knocking on doors to wake them up and make them aware of the fire. This allowed all
occupants to exit the house safely.

Battalion Chief JD Everhart was the incident commander on the scene. Prior to arrival all occupants were reported to be out of the house. Fire crews arrived to find a single-story house with smoke and flames coming from the structure. Those crews immediately began fire extinguishment as well as searching the house to make sure that no one was inside.

It took fire crews approximately 45 minutes to get the fire under control. The Lexington Fire Marshal’s Office is actively investigating the origin and cause of the fire. At this time the cause has not been confirmed.
There were no injuries to occupants or fire personnel.

In addition to the Lexington Fire Department, Lexington Police Department, Davidson County EMS, West Lexington Fire Department, Lexington Fire Marshals Office, and the Red Cross were on scene to support and manage the situation.
